Chantix : the Wonder Drug for Smoking Cessation

Smoking causes threatening evils in the overall health of mankind.

• Erectile dysfunction in men

• Infertility in women

• Respiratory infections that is chronic or serious

• Lung disease such as emphysema

• Coronary disease and heart attack

• Ulcers in the stomach

• Cancer in the different parts of body

• Peripheral vascular disease

• Bladder Cancer

Varenicline, the main ingredient of Chantix is a component that has the capacity to influence the brain receptor cells and give you similar pleasure like nicotine. Chantix competes with the amount of pleasure you get from nicotine, by getting attached to the a4β2 neuronal nicotinic acetylcholine receptors with high intensity. As a result you do not feel like smoking and get over your withdrawal very soon.

Chantix medication has been approved by the FDA Food and Drug Administration and now it is available online to the people who want to quit their smoking habit. Chantix is indicated as an Aid to smoking cessation treatment.

But what is the necessity of Chantix or other FDA approved drugs? The drug authority FDA has granted the approval to Chantix for its effective action in helping people to get rid of smoking addiction. As soon as Chantix is administered to the body, the drug gets mixed with the nicotine receptor cells and induces a pleasure feeling similar to nicotine which further helps the user to escape from the clutches of withdrawal symptoms of nicotine.

To quit smoking, you should be highly strong willed and should have strong determination, otherwise there’s no way to get rid of it. With it, any quit aid you choose will work beautifully. Chantix appears to be a promising new therapy that could help a lot of people kick nicotine addiction, once and for all.

If Chantix appeals to you, discuss it with your doctor and get started! There's no time like the present to quit smoking.

Cv Writing Tips With Templates

How to Make a Good CV (and get it read).

If you have ever been involved in writing a CV properly you will know how much care and effort goes into it. If you put yourself in the reader's shoes – you may remember all those marketing brochures that have landed on your desk or been pushed through your door. How many have you actually read all the way through? Or, did you just briefly glance at them in a second or two to be placed on a pile or draw for reading later or thrown in the bin...

What makes this happen?  Why does all the effort get wasted?

What people do that raises criticisms against their CVs:

1) They make them too long.

2) They make them with too much content or text.

3) They make them with too many different fonts.

4) They make them with poor design.

5) They are badly worded.

6) They make them too glossy.

7) Just too boring.

8) Just like all the others.

9) They make them too gimmicky.

10) No benefits of the product or services communicated.

Write a Good CV

* Write what the reader wants to know, not all that you want to say.

* Bullet point benefits you have contributed to present and previous employers.

* Write your CV as you would a Professionally written marketing brochure.

* You can download a CV template online at First Impressions www.cv-service.org

Using a 3rd Party to Write your CV

Be careful, employers and recruiters can be put off, if your CV looks and is worded mostly the same as all the other CVs that they see. If you commission a CV Writer to produce your CV, they may use CV template and copy other CV content to your own so your CV will not be customized or unique.  If you look in t

he job vacancies pages of the newspapers, you may see a section headed 'CV Services', with quite a few different companies offering to write a good CV for you at varying rates. While these writers may, produce very good CVs with a superior presentation they are mostly, by my experience and in the eye's of recruiters and employers, too standardized and still full of those buzz words and phrases no matter what profession you seem to be in. CVs produced by a standard CV template in this way are often mass-produced, and sometimes excessively gimmicky, with the wording "way over the top" and this can make your CV and you seem glib and arrogant.

1. Nico Cure

2. Final Smoke

3. Habitrol

5. Nicorette

There are varieties and categories of quit smoking aids. Reportedly, their function is overt and covert both. They are: books and magazines, cigarette modification products, video tapes, audio tapes, thought changing products, electronic and computer products, smoke and odor removal items, no smoking signs and much more.

Non-nicotine based quit smoking aids are: nicotine patch, gums, inhaler, nasal spray and nicotine lozenges. There are also herbal quit smoking aids. Smokeless cigarette is one of them. What You Should Know About Dealing With Addiction, Part 2

Help Options For Dealing With Addiction

Family and friends who help their loved ones deal with addiction may suggest, encourage, or insist upon a variety of help options. Depending on the type of addiction, one or more of the following approaches towards treatment might be chosen. For some, a tailored course of action could be implemented because it is not uncommon to see one suffer from more than one addiction. For example, a sex addict may also abuse alcohol. Therefore, they may face treatment options for both psychological and physical dependency.

Individual Counseling: A professional counselor will meet for a period of time with an individual battling addiction as one of many support measures. Since the counselor has experience with mental health issues, they might be able to help the patient understand the problems in their life that leads to their addiction.

Medication: Sometimes an addict will need medication to help wean themselves from their dependencies. For example, Nicorette helps those addicted to smoking, while Naltrexone aids drug addicts.

Detox: For those fighting a drug or alcohol addiction, a period of time where the drugs are completely removed from their system might be needed. In a variety of settings, detox may occur in a hospital, specific clinic, or treatment facility.

Inpatient Treatment: Addicts may undergo a structured program through onsite treatment where both individual and groups sessions are used. The goal of inpatient programs is to assist an individual in becoming addiction-free and equipping them with the ability to return to a normal life within their previous community setting.

Outpatient Treatment: Instead of staying overnight at a facility, treatment is received through individual therapy and group work that requires a patient to come on a regular basis to meet their program expectations.

Self Help Recovery Groups: In every city, there are self-help groups, such as Alcoholics Anonymous (also known as AA), which offers meetings to help alcoholics stay on the track of sobriety. Narcotics Anonymous (NA) works with drug addicts, which provide 12-step self-help programs. There are also self-help groups for any addiction, including for sex and food.

Best Way to Quit Smoking – Chantix Friend or Foe?

A video diary of my journey through Chantix

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention an estimated 44.5 million adults in the United States smoke cigarettes and may suffer from a nicotine addiction. But, what exactly is a smoking or nicotine addiction? Well, the medical community has defined a smoking addiction as an uncontrollable dependence on cigarettes to the point where stopping causes emotional distress! These very same proponents are generally advocates of the addiction disease model, which promotes the hypothesis of chemical dependency and the affects of substances on the brain. Let’s examine that hypothesis for a moment! If discontinuing smoking causes emotional distress, is not rational to conclude that the emotional stress was present before the addiction occurred? Furthermore, is it not also rational to believe that the emotional distress is the direct cause of the addiction? In my opinion, absolutely, unequivocally yes!!

The questions are; what is the root cause of this emotional distress, and what role does nicotine play in alleviating that distress? First, let’s examine the affects of nicotine on the body and mind. It is true that nicotine is a psychoactive drug that stimulates electrical activity of the brain. And, it also has a calming effect, especially at times of stress. As with every addiction, smoking merely diverts people from their emotional pain! While everyday stresses can exacerbate the situation they are not the main cause of the emotional pain that needs to be calmed. Generally, underlying emotional trauma caused by family dysfunction is at the root of the addiction. This emotional trauma batters the self-esteem and self-confidence levels which lessens the ability to cope with everyday stresses, whereby causing anxiety. So, in my opinion, liberating oneself from that anxiety is the key to nicotine addiction freedom. Consequently, when you remove the anxiety smoking becomes repulsive!

The medical community’s response is a direct contrast to the underpinning cause of nicotine addiction and has closely followed the disease hypothesis with the introduction of the drug Chantix. Chantix was released by the FDA in the United States (in June 2006.) The drug is believed to block nicotine from reaching receptors in the brain whereby reducing the so called cravings to smoke. In addiction, Chantix is a partial agonist that activates release of 35 to 60% of the dopamine that nicotine would have caused to flow if sitting on the exact same receptors. This release of dopamine is believed to produce the same emotional effect that nicotine delivers without the damaging effects of smoking. Dopamine has many functions in the brain, including important roles in behavior and cognition, motor activity, motivation and reward, sleep, mood, attention, and learning. So, let me get this straight! The solution for overcoming a nicotine addiction is to acknowledge emotional distress as a component, dismiss it, and then trade one psychoactive substance for another!

Sadly, prior to the release of Chantix there was clear evidence that it caused side effects such as nausea, mood alterations, drowsiness, vivid dreams, and allergic rash in up to one-third of patients. But, that isn’t even the half of it!  Now, after about 4 million smokers have taken Chantix, about 40 suicides have been reported to the FDA associated with Chantix and about 400 cases of suicidal thinking or behavior from this psychoactive drug. The Food and Drug Administration issued the following warning on February 1, 2008:

FDA ALERT: FDA is issuing this Alert to highlight important revisions to the WARNINGS and PRECAUTIONS sections of the full prescribing information for Chantix regarding serious neuropsychiatric symptoms. Serious neuropsychiatric symptoms have occurred in patients taking Chantix. These symptoms include changes in behavior, agitation, depressed mood, suicidal ideation, and attempted and completed suicide. While some patients may have experienced these types of symptoms and events as a result of nicotine withdrawal, some patients taking Chantix who experienced serious neuropsychiatric symptoms and events had not yet discontinued smoking. In most cases, neuropsychiatric symptoms developed during Chantix treatment, but in others, symptoms developed following withdrawal of Chantix therapy.

Chantix has been promoted as having a 44% success rate at 12 weeks. However, that figure is really rather meaningless since half of Chantix clinical trial users who successfully quit smoking for 12 weeks while using it had relapsed to smoking within a year. Source (whyquit.com)

The Real Reason you Smoke

The key is to realize that nicotine does have a calming effect on the mind. As with all addictions, smoking merely diverts people from their emotional pain or distress. While everyday stress can exacerbate the situation it is not the primary cause of the emotional pain that needs to be calmed. Generally, underlying emotional trauma caused by family dysfunction is at the root of the addiction. This emotional trauma batters the self-esteem and self-confidence levels which lessens the ability to cope with everyday stress or in the case of smoking, anxiety. Therefore the key to overcoming a nicotine addiction is to restore self-esteem by liberating oneself from the dysfunctional patterns that cause anxiety. Plain and simple, when you remove the anxiety and restore self-esteem smoking will become repulsive.

Take a moment to ask yourself a couple of questions; what has caused the anxiety that you need to calm with smoking, and why does smoking make you feel better?

So, if you want to crumple up your last pack and walk away forever, you need to get to the bottom of the emotional pain and anxiety that provokes you to calm it by smoking.

Best wishes,

Fda Allegedly Under Fire, Funding and Status Declines on Drugs Such as Chantix

Copyright (c) 2008 Katie Kelley

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is becoming the center of controversy as news reports continue to surface on the declining status of the regulatory body as well as the underfunding that has allegedly been occurring.

One of these news articles was recently published in Prevention magazine in which the FDA's exploits and errors were laid out in a way to alert Americans of this increasing problem with one of the most relied upon regulatory bodies in the country.

Both a combination of low funding and an increase in job cuts at the FDA are potential reasons for the FDA's alleged decline and increasing tie to controversial drugs such as Chantix. Unfortunately, because the U.S. Food and Drug Administration is the main regulatory body overseeing and approving or not approving of medications, foods, etc., reports find it is a complicated manner.

What is Chantix?

Chantix or Champix (varenicline tartrate) is a prescription strength smoking cessation drug that is used to aid patients in ending their nicotine and smoking additions. The drug was released from Pfizer in May 2006 and was quickly prescribed to millions of patients across the United States.

Additionally, Prevention magazine reported the accompanying controversy surrounding the FDA's acceptance of illegal payments from Pfizer.

Chantix patients began reporting of hallucinations and increased feelings of anxiety and depression in 2007. The drug remains on the market although there were allegedly 37 suicides linked to the drug, which the FDA investigated.

Overcoming Chantix Side Effects

Because the Chantix side effects can be severely debilitating among a victim who now suffers from suicidal behavior and an altered personality/mood, it is extremely critical that a Chantix victim contact a medical professional to seek appropriate treatments, if necessary, as well as to find an alternative smoking cessation drug.

Speaking with a knowledgeable attorney on the potential for a Chantix class action lawsuit may also provide a victim of the drug's side effects with a better sense of protection.

A pharmaceutical attorney will likely offer a free legal consultation to individuals in need of better understanding the details behind a Chantix class action lawsuit. It may be possible to earn monetary compensation on the development of such a lawsuit.

Dr. David Samadi discusses the potential increased risk of heart attack for patients taking Chantix, a smoking cessation drug by Pfizer. Though the increased risk appears to be slight, Dr. Samadi urges patients to use drugs such as, Chantix, as last a resort in efforts to quit smoking. Separately, Dr. Samadi comments on new findings regarding a link between autism and environmental factors in the womb before, during and after pregnancy. Environmental factors include infection and the use of medication. The dangers of taking anti-depressants during the first trimester are also discussed. In summary, Dr. Samadi cautions that studies such as these often have very small sample sizes or other unknown variables, and that the findings of all new studies should be evaluated carefully upon release. Further, Dr. Samadi reminds patients to also discuss new drugs with their doctors. Dr. Samadi is Vice Chairman of the Department of Urology and Chief of Robotics and Minimally Invasive Surgery at The Mount Sinai Medical Center.

The Best Way To Stop Smoking

There really is no best way to stop smoking. The only "best way" is for the smoker to say, "I really, really want to quit smoking" and actually mean it. The twp main things every one else can offer is support and advice. As a smoker, be clear about why you want to quit when you listen to their advice and support, listing as many reasons as you can, and then making a plan to accomplish your goal. On the list of why you want to quit, try to include achieving better health and fitness, wanting to live longer, less risk of cancer and heart disease, no nicotine stained fingers or teeth, better smelling breath, healthier babies and setting examples for the family, healthier skin with fewer wrinkles, increased budget income, etc.

We need to prepare ourselves mentally by setting an actual date we are going to quit. Make it a special day, a day of personal achievement – it can be our birthday or anniversary; a holiday or one of our children's birthdays; and can also be on No Smoking Day, the second Wednesday of every March. It really does not matter, as long as it means something to us. Reducing our smoking without setting a date to quit may not work, because our smoking is likely to increase once again. Be aware of the fact that it is easy to give in to temptation and start smoking again, especially when we are tense and upset. We stand to lose all that we have gained, if we have one single cigarette. And then we will have to start all over again.

Making a plan is easy – sticking to it is something else. If we were serious about wanting to quit smoking, we would follow it to the "T" – and hope to achieve our goal, by knowing what to expect and preparing ourselves to face the withdrawal symptoms. Most people find the first few days as the most difficult, with things becoming better after the first three or four days. Nicotine withdrawal symptoms may include irritation, restlessness, frustration, sleeplessness, and being "fumbly stumbly" accident-prone.

To curb these withdrawals and ease the distress, use NRT, or nicotine replacement therapy, in the form of gum, patches, lozenges, inhalers, etc. that can double our chances of success, by reducing the intensity of our cravings. Go to counseling and behavior therapy classes. Use Nicotinell, Nicorette and NiQuitin CQ as some of the nicotine product aids. Another option is to use the drug Zyban, which is available on prescription. All of these aids are available.

Regardless which NRT method we use, we need to find something to do and stay as busy as possible, to take the place of smoking. Games, woodwork, online surveys, taking extra adult classes, volunteering at literary workshops, etc. We can drink a lot of water, tea, or juice, or chew gum. Whatever we enjoy doing should be approached at this time. Try to stay busy doing what we like. To avoid weight gain that usually accompanies quitting smoking, try not to grab food instead of a cigarette, and if you do – change your diet by grabbing raw vegetables and lots of fruit, drink lots of juices and water, avoid alcohol, and exercise much more.

Avoid situations where we may be tempted to smoke such as bars, nightclubs, hotels, and certain eating establishments. All of this is common sense, but when we are in the withdrawal mode, we do not think, we react only to the pain and distress our body is going through. Care for it gently, by compensating these feelings with something health and pleasurable. Family and friends will support you to deal with nicotine withdrawal symptoms if you let them.

What Everybody Should Know About Posting CVs Online

Posting your CV online is now a standard approach to applying for jobs. However, a controlled experiment showed just how many people are exposing themselves to the risk of identity theft when submitting their CVs online.

Job hunters are being warned to secure their CVs online after experts showed how freely people share their resumes with strangers, effectively handing over all the information criminals need to steal their identity.

In a recent controlled experiment, a job advert for a fictional company was placed in a national newspaper, inviting people to apply by emailing their CV online. Anyone carrying out a simple web search for the company - 'Denis Atlas', an anagram of 'steal an id' - would have found a website telling them the company was fake. In just one week, 107 CVs were received in response to the job advert. The vast majority of the CVs contained enough information for an identity theft to occur.

Reformed identity theft criminal, Bob Turney, said: 'Whilst many people now routinely shred things like bank statements and utility bills, they still seem happy to send their CVs to complete strangers. They need to realise just how easy it is to use the information in a CV to set up a bank account or take out a credit card fraudulently.'

Typically, criminals need just three out of fifteen key pieces of information to commit identity fraud - the average CV received as part of the experiment contained eight pieces of information. 61 CVs (57%) included a date of birth, despite this no longer being a requirement due to age discrimination laws, and 98 (91.5%) included a full address. A further 20 (19%) put others at risk by providing full details of references. One even included the applicant's passport number and national insurance details.

Hosting your CV securely on the Internet using a reputable online CV provider can be much safer than posting or emailing a traditional word document. Once you post or email a traditional CV, you have very little control over it. There's nothing to stop someone photocopying it or sending it on to others.

Choosing a reputable provider is crucial when placing your CV online. There are many people who just place their CV online in an unsecured manner - for example by setting up their own simple webpage. This can expose them to identity fraud. Stick to the established providers who invest in security and processes to protect your information online.

Advice on protecting yourself against ID theft when job hunting:

• Be wary if the email address does not contain the name of the company but just the name of a service provider.
• Take extra care accessing personal information when using public computers, such as those in internet cafes, or when using a laptop in a WiFi hotspot.
• Shred or destroy old copies of your CV.
• If you are using an online CV service, be sure that it safeguards your personal details.
• Ideally, use a phone masking service to protect your personal number.

Think about who you share your career information with, make sure they are a real business and when posting your information to the web or on a job board database, remember to use an Internet Safe CV:

• Do not include your date of birth
• Do not include your marital status
• Do not include your place of birth
• Only give your first and last name

Think about the information a potential employer needs to find your details, you can share your full CV at a later stage when you are comfortable with the identity of the company or person you are sharing the information with.
